The Rise of Mira
The young fox sat on the cold hard floor of the chamber. She looked up at the tapestry as she wrote in a rough leather journal. The candles lit the room dimly, showing only the Alpha statue’s faces. Old pieces of armor and stacks of books made ghostly shadows appear on the dark wall. All was silent except for the sound of the pencil scraping the paper, and the wind blowing through the chamber. Knowledge was all this young fox wanted. She desperately wants to meet the Alphas and learn from them, but all that was left were journals scribbled with markings, and statues made in their honor. There was nothing that could make her believe that they would ever return.
Soft footsteps padded across the chamber behind the young fox. She turned around abruptly to see who was behind her. A tall red wolf with moon markings embedded into her fur came walking up behind the fox. “Hello Owl.” The wolf said. The young fox by the name of Owl stood up and responded “Hey Sig.” The room seemed to grow lighter with the name Sig. This proud she wolf was Owls best friend. Owl pulled her leg armor up her arms and put her journal into her satchel. Sig walked past her and looked at the tapestry hanging on the wall. “I love this tapestry,” Sig said. “It’s so beautiful, it’s as if Mira made if herself.” Owl looked up at the dusty old cloth. “It always interested me. That’s why I come here often.” Owl said, brushing dirt from the floor off her grey fur. She looked over and saw the phantom in the glass case. “Well, we should go now.” Sig said. “The 2013 party is starting soon and I want to see if there are any new items” She turned around and started for the door. Owl followed her, but before she left, she placed a gem on the ground. She always did this and the gem she left always seemed to be gong the next time she came. Maybe someone picked it up but she had a feeling it was something-someone else that would take it as an offering. She and Sig then walked out of the room.
Fireworks crackled above the gleaming ice towers. Many animals immediately went upstairs to browse through the items. Sig picked up a medusa mask and examined it. “Hey Owl, look at this-“ She realized owl wasn’t paying any attention. She was glaring at a black wolf near one of the ice towers. He was talking with another wolf. “Yeah, I can’t believe he did that trade,” The wolf started. “It was a waste of a perfect spike.” The other wolf spoke. “yeah, I would never of traded it for that glove. It was a horrible trade.” Owl narrowed her eyes and trotted out of the castle. “Owl, where are you going?” Sig shouted and ran after her. She found Owl outside, sitting in the cold snow and staring at the stars. “Owl, what happened?” Sig asked, sitting next to her. Owl looked up at her. “Did you hear what those wolves were talking about in there?” She asked. “Yeah, trading a spike or something...” Sig said, shuffling her paws. “Exactly,” Owl said. “Is that all that there is now? Is that why Mira and Zios created Jamaa? To let Jammers talk about trading spikes?” Owl looked at the ground. “I miss the old Jamaa. I miss the old Jammers. I miss the Alphas.” Tears started to form in her eyes. “What has become of Jamaa?” So many Jammers don’t even know who Mira and Zios are!” They don’t even care!” They think the Phantoms are some sort of game!” they are coming back to destroy Jamaa, and nobody gives a fur.” Sig stared at her with worried eyes. “The Phantoms are coming back, but so are the Alphas. They will protect us and Jamaa will go back to normal. No Scamming or hatred. No crying over spikes. Just peace with jammers, caring Alphas, and the old Jamaa.” Owl looked up at Sig, who was staring back down at her. “Your right,” Said Owl. “The Alphas will return and they will save us from the Phantoms.”
