Frost And The Hurdle Jump

Frost entered Jamaa Township from the Appondale side, shoving her way through the bulky crowd, and emerged near the billboard. The sky was nice and clear, with green, dewy grass. She lapped up some dew before entering the Alpha Forest. Mosquitoes and ticks buzzed in their homes, with Keldeo shaking some of the trees and bamboo, but otherwise everything was quiet.
"Go away, Apophis!" Keldeo screamed. Frost knew that he was play-fighting with the bamboo stalks again, as he always did when she came for her training. Every time, when her weekly training was over, she'd wake up in her bed, but this time Amelia promised she would let Frost teleport out of the Alpha Forest when she was done.
Her Spirit Armor protected her from the phantom ambushes that were getting more and more frequently, and let her handle phantoms safely when she was doing a biology course with Cosmo. Lisa had insisted every Alpha teach her something, because she had the traits of all of them.
"Keldeo, come out of your hiding place, Sophia told me last week that we were going to do hurdles together." Frost shouted. Her voice echoed in the space, as if the Alpha Hut were a different land. (It actually is, there is a space in the ocean where the entrance is a gate on the island of the Alpha hut, it is a portal) Keldeo came out of the forest shuddering.
"What? Frost asked him. He shuddered.
"Sophia makes the hurdles very high, because they are actual mountains. You have to jump over them, not run over them." Keldeo squeaked. Frost laughed.
"You're kidding. Here, I'll show you a picture of my friend Mia." she said.

"See? I get on the computer every day to talk to her on the Animal Jam Spirit Blog, and to answer other people's questions." Frost said. Keldeo nodded. (Sound familiar? Yes, Frost is referencing to the relationship between me and Mia, as Spirit Jammers!)
"What is a computer?" Keldeo asked Frost. Frost showed him an image of a computer.

Frost sighed, as most of these apprentices and Alphas didn't know about the "sophisticated" stuff. She had to keep showing them her photos of them. She used her camera a ton now, almost as much as her computer.

When they arrived at the dirt path around the hut, Frost saw that Keldeo wasn't kidding, even though the Sea Heart and Chaos Heart made him a bit erratic.

Frost gasped at how large the mountain was.
Sophia smiled next to the large mountain, as if it was just a small mat.
"Well, put some spring in your step, its springtime!" Sophia said. "I'm sorry if this is challenging, but Lisa says this is the standard for every Alpha's apprentice."
Sophia lay down some yoga mats for them to stretch on, and demonstrated poses such as the three warriors, bridge, triangle, cobra, down dog, up dog, and sun salutation, and they copied her.
Finally, when even Frost's strong muscles ached, Sophia got up and told them to jump over the "hurdle".
Keldeo failed instantly for needing to get a head start, but for some reason Frost jumped over it easily, flying a bit over the wide peak. The mountain collapsed into a pile of sand as she jumped over it.
Sophia gasped, as no apprentice had cleared the hurdles so easily.
The Spirit Armor's blazing feathers suddenly grew into an aura shaped like Mira, and it surrounded Frost, like an avatar. Sophia gasped.
"Mira...."

Frost kept on flying over the mountains, and each became something small as she flew over their peaks. One became a dead frog, another a thrush feather.
When she completed the course, her aura shrank until it was simply a panting Frost, barely conscious.
"How..." Keldeo stuttered.
"Keldeo, we need to get this poor leopard to Cosmo! Summoning Mira's avatar was a big burden for her!" Sophia cried.
Frost's vision was blurry, and she reached up a paw to touch the clouds. Two horse-like creatures hovered over her, screaming something that sounded like "Medic! Medic!" far away from her.
Frost blacked out.

She awoke in Cosmo's room, lying on a soft, moss bed with brambles underneath. Her samurai helmet felt heavy, as usual, which was a good sign. Cosmo was feeding her a yucky paste.
However, she remembered Oreo feeding her the Chinese huo shiang zheng chi when she had gotten a cold, so the flavor didn't bother her.
"You're awake!" he cried. When he stopped fussing over her mana level inside her Spirit Armor, he started to crush some herbs silently in a corner. The firefly lamp rocked back and forth, and herbs hung in baskets from the ceiling quietly.
If Lisa and Amelia weren't doing war talk just outside the door, she would've fallen asleep, as she liked the rocking of the lamp, like a pendulum.
"Frost is dangerous, how can we contain her powers?" Lisa said outside the door.
"We must strengthen them, Lisa! Both me and Ka have a feeling we're only on the tip of the iceberg, and Ka never lies or has a false feeling. If she allows, then we can harness her power to defeat the phantoms!" Amelia replied.
It felt like Lisa shook her head.
"And risk killing a hero? No, we must try to contain it with inhibitor rings. Her powers could prove deadly." Lisa said. Frost heard a clink as Lisa tossed Amelia five golden inhibitor rings, four for her legs and one for her neck.
The door slammed open as Lisa went to her room and Amelia into Cosmo's room.
"Frost, tell me your past, and who your parents are." Amelia asked Frost with a deadly serious voice. Frost used the lessons Peck had taught her to resist the powerful magic of charmspeak, but Amelia's melodious voice lulled her into speaking the truth.

When Frost was finished, Amelia nodded.
"These golden inhibitor rings will absorb your energy intake, so your powers are limited. However, I tampered with these while you spoke the truth to me, so that they only take in a small amount of energy. That way, we can increase your power, but you cannot take in so much that you die." Amelia said. "I did this, because judging from what you said, we haven't even touched the iceberg of how much power you hold. I'll go tell Lisa about your truth. If you aren't gone by the time Lisa  comes looking for you, then I'll make these inhibitor rings suck out most of your power. Understand?"
Frost nodded. She waited until Amelia went through the door, then teleported to her den to get a smoothie and sunbathe.
