LaSalle and Harper In Frozen Ruins

LaSalle dreamed she was in a frozen world somewhere in Vramaa, shaped like a city but frozen solid and ruined. Ominous fog clouded her vision, and an evil laugh taunted her from somewhere else in the ruins. Waves of sound zeroed in on her, locking her and consuming the energy of the Mira Feathers locked inside her... when Harper destroyed the machine and led her as the frozen walkway behind them crumbled.
She awoke panting, wondering what had happened, when she realized she was still in her room, with all of her disks on the nightstand, and her robo-pet Sputnik at her feet, the robotic dog staring at her.
"Oh, who is a good little doggie?" she said affectionately. The dog whimpered.
Sputnik leaped up, and started licking LaSalle's face with a collection of data that was his tongue.
"Get off, Sputnik! I told you a million times, don't lick me like that!" Sputnik hopped off the sleeping chamber pedestal, sighing.
The wires sustaining LaSalle as her data went through various images clicked off her, and she stepped out of the chamber, the door closing behind her.
She gave Sputnik a few metal balls to play with while she was gone, and gave him some oil to drink,  then walked out the door to take a sonic shower.

After her refreshing shower using the power of sound cleansing, she walked over to Harper (like, her only friend) and told her about her dream.
Harper stroked her chin with her claws, deep in thought.
After quite a while, Harper came up with an idea. (Sure, she's smart, but her dream was a LOT like a nightmare, so its hard to tell if its an omen or not.)
"Well, you DO have seven of Mira's Feathers, so it is possible.. and besides, you have links to Vramaa anyway." Harper said quietly.
LaSalle silently agreed.
"So... I guess we find these Frozen Ruins?" Harper asked awkwardly. LaSalle bent and twisted the shimmering feathers she held inside her storage, trying her best not to use up their energy by assuming a form of invincibility.
She didn't want to, after all.
Lisa walked over, her cane brimming with power.
"You need a quest grant? Well, have it, we're preparing everyone in Jamaa for the phantom invasion anyway, we need as much training as possible." she said gently, with no tone of anger or annoyance.
"Can we take Frost with us?" asked Harper.
"Sure, the Frozen Ruins sounds like a challenge. She deserves it, for somebody named Frost." Lisa said.
Frost appeared right in front of them, right on cue, brandishing a Mira Feather in her paw.
"Just got back from the Ore Compass fight. Parlan, Zion and Sir Gilbert are coming back soon." Frost said.
LaSalle told her about the quest.
"Oh," said Frost. "I'll come... if you give me one of those feathers."
She glanced at the spot where LaSalle's feathers were stored.
"But I just got my seventh!" LaSalle complained.
Frost's look convinced her that messing with this tomboy would result in her neck twisted upwards for a month.
LaSalle sighed, and gave Frost one of the blue-green feathers. Frost took it with pleasure and held it with her first one, smiling happily.
Lisa walked back over to Graham to discuss upgrading LaSalle's technomagic defenses, and Harper held both Frost's and LaSalle's paws.
"Lets. Go." she said firmly.
Somehow, they found themselves in the frozen ruins.

A sign next to them said WELCOME TO CHAOSPOLIS. EVERGREEN APARTMENTS: HERE. DR. WITNEY'S LAB: 10 MILES.
Scraped in runes right underneath that was:
Time is up. Witney has frozen Chaospolis. Get to his lab and defeat the phantom there.
Nobody really had any idea why Witney would do such a thing to Chaospolis, but it was time for a long run to Witney's Lab to defeat the enemy.
"Well, doesn't it sound too easy to be true?" Frost said, staring up at the icy sky full of snowflakes and the sea of ice below them.
Bats made of snowclouds flew above them, and cars/ floating road chunks were the only thing really not covered in ice.
There was a grand snow tornado 10 miles ahead, surrounding Witney's lab.
LaSalle homed in on several ice serpents half-lodged in the road, targeting  them, and fired several energy-draining shots.
Long, smooth tentacles entangled the enemies, sucking all the life out of them and leaving nothing but an empty shell behind.
"Slick move there!" Frost said, satisfied with the empty shells, chucking them over the edge of the platforms.
Harper ran as fast as she could, dodging sprays of snow and blasting random bats with Cithara's shruikan.
Frost? Well... she harnessed the powers of the feathers to grip the ice creatures and use them to topple their comrades. It wasn't really a good attack, but hey, Mira's feathers were a powerhouse stocked with enough energy to last an eternity, maybe even more.
The tornado of snow made the frozen city very cold, and the slick paths didn't really help. Where there was a city park, the flowers and Vramaasians were frozen solid, enjoying their everyday lives.
LaSalle swore she would get Zira back for that, as she used to go to Chaospolis every summer as a kit.
She knew that Zira had used powers of the winter to freeze this city with the help of Witney's Freeze Nanites, and to this day the grave of the poor Vramaasians is guarded by mutant ice creatures.
"Move quickly! The platforms are crumbling under our weight!" cried LaSalle. Sure enough, bricks of stone fell every minute, following them as they sped towards Witney's lab.
LaSalle attempted some rocket flight, Harper better running and Frost a form as a phantom, and together they cleared the 10 miles quickly, platform-hopping.

When they got to the lab, they were drenched with melting snow after jumping through the tornado, and covered with wounds from scraping themselves on rusty Harleys.
The lab didn't look like much, but it was the only thing that remained of Downtown  Chaospolis. Sure, it was in bad condition, but at least it still stood.
The only reminder of LaSalle's childhood.
The paint job was peeling off, icicles hanging from the ceiling, but it still held well-preserved equipment for all the soldier-enhancing gizmos the Vramaasians constructed.
"This is Witney's lab? Why was it preserved?" Harper gasped in shock. It was in MUCH better condition than the apartment buildings ripped to the core.
Cold air blew in through the windows, and the lightbulbs barely even worked.
Ghosts wandered the corridors, bemoaning all of their precious research's' death.
The tall skyscraper had some floors that were completely obliterated, but there were other floors that actually were habitable.
The higher they went, the more Frost shivered.
"This place gives me chills! I swear, I can feel the aura of a phantom general here!" Frost moaned, clutching her head. The inhibitor rings flashed as she inhaled more power to overpower the pain.
"Must just be the dark history behind this place. Lakuno, the guardian of the Chaospolis ruins, is a rumor as of right now." LaSalle said.
However, even she, the Vramaasian expert, was in doubt at that very moment.
Halfway up the skyscraper, a metal sign on a desk strewn with frozen computers and papers read:
                                   Witney's Enhancement Labs
est. at the beginning of Chaospolis

It was rusty, so to this day nobody is sure if it said anything else.
"Huh, this place is old. And you said that you went to Chaospolis when you were small?" Harper observed.
"I really don't know, Harper... HEADS UP!" LaSalle beeped. Her metal pelt defended herself from the ripple of purple light, but Harper and Frost were knocked unconscious as the ripple ripped apart much of the surrounding area.
"Harper! Frost! No!" LaSalle cried. The two most powerful Alphas, and they were overcome by a mere ripple.
Being the only mecha Alpha had its perks, as her metal coat was durable enough to defend her.
However, she was receiving metal fatigue big-time, as the ripple had dented her pelt to the extent of explosion.
Suddenly, a grey-skinned robot phantom appeared in the doorway leading to the neon-colored stairs.
"LaSalle... I exiled your mother, Lara-Su, to Alward, personally.... as Tipi is my sister." the phantom hissed.
"Argyle! I thought you were for the Phantom Rebels!" LaSalle snarled. Argyle, the traitor, had brought the downfall of the defenders of Vramaa, the Omegas.
She had thought it was all bull.
Now, thought, she had proof before her very own eyes, fifty years later.
Yes, fifty years, because LaSalle and Lara-Su had been preserved in time for fifty years after Lara-Su had betrayed Vramaa and the Holy Laws.
"Little pawn.... you do not realize that my alternate name is Lakuno. Oh, how I was humiliated when I was called a myth! A campfire tale to make sure nobody went to Chaospolis looking for an adventure! However, I am more than just THAT." Argyle hissed, his eye pulsating.
"You.... monster... You destroyed the Omegas and broke a promise just for a high rank in Vramaasian society! You, Lakuno, Argyle, whatever, need to PAY for the downfall of a beautiful land!" LaSalle snapped, oily tears in her eyes.
Argyle laughed.
"Oh, little LaSalle, I broke the promise I made to dead Lara-Su because she betrayed me! She went over to Jamaa and brokered with them when I wanted to fight alone! The Phantom Rebels are still fighting Aios and Zira, just because of Lara-Su's scorn."
LaSalle fought the temptation to sink herself in the snowdrift of lies Argyle presented, to protect herself from the harsh rays of the sun that was the world.
Evil offers ease and comfort, one part of LaSalle whispered in her mind.
No! Honor is what matters! I won't give up my friends! LaSalle countered.
She looked at Frost and Harper, sprawled on the floor, helpless to Lakuno's wrath. She looked at the world she had loved, and this traitor that helped Aios too much.
Too much.
Seven Mira Feathers came out of her compartment, and seven fused with her metal. Seven gave LaSalle unlimited power, seven that would restore Chaospolis.
"Argyle, you are nothing but a coward! You used Aios and Zira as shields from the wrath of real life! You deserve to die! You, of all creatures, deserve to be eaten alive by twenty bull sharks, You, of all creatures, put the blame on the universe and thinks that one little mistake ruined your life! Learn a lesson through my wrath, Argyle!"
LaSalle's coat sparkled gold, and little red arrow-beams shot out of her tail. Each beam was calibrated to a laser's sharpness, where it could pierce spider webbing. (Believe me, that's strong.)
Little chinks in Argyle's armor broke off, and the shell over Argyle was shredded like a snake shedding its old skin.
"NOOOOO! YOU... IDIOT.... CHAOSPOLIS WILL BE RESTORED... WHEN... MY... SPIRIT... IS LAID TO....ReSt...." Argyle choked his last words out, and dissipated into the sea of ice below.
LaSalle charged out a window, and went down to the empty shell falling.
She had used enough of the feathers, but she still gave a few more punches to Lakuno as his shell was swallowed by the earth.
Immediately, Frost and Harper awoke.
"What did we miss?" asked Frost as she saw LaSalle slowly return to normal.
LaSalle smiled.
"A lot, I assure you, a lot."

After they came out of Witney's lab, they watched Chaospolis slowly shed its layer of ice over its true beauty and repair all the damage Zira did.
The ground was freed off ice, the floating platforms once again anchored, and the sleep of the inhabitants diminished.
Flowers unfroze, animals awoke from deep slumber, and the sky got rid of the black blanket covering the city for fifty years.
Fifty years of evil, chaos and darkness.
A new era would start from the shell of Chaospolis's former glory.
"We have seen enough. Chaospolis has now been upgraded to prevent further attack. It is not our place to stay." LaSalle said.
Before anyone could say anything, they were back in Jamaa.

I hope you enjoyed this, I had to stay up late to type it!
