Clan Wolves: Twilight

Deciding to keep the omen a secret from her mate and her clan DawnStar turned around to find her self in the nursery. Yawning she returned to sleep.
Laughter and giggles arose from the lake. It was the Clans MedCats and apprentices back from MoonHollow, where they went to communicate with StarClan
                         **********5 Moons Later**********

With only a few hours left before they were the new apprentices the kits were messing around and causing mayhem. Just before SunHigh they stopped making mess and instead helped cleaning it. By dusk the camp was clear of clutter. After cleaning it all up the kits were feeling drowsy and fell asleep.
When the kits awoke it was MoonHigh.
DawnStar and MoonStar (their both doing the ritual at the same time) glowing with pride at their kits as they recited the ancient words of the leaders before them.
"Do you HawkKit, OwlKit, SandKit and DustKit, take the pledge to become an apprentice, serve your Clan, through the hottest days or the darkest days?" shakily the Kits said yes. Their father continued
"Then HawkKit you are now HawkPaw, OwlKit you are now OwlPaw, DustKit you are now DustPaw and SandKit you are SandPaw. HawkPaw your mentor is IceFang" IceFang was the clans MedCat, and HawkPaw was really interested in becoming a MedCat himself. "SandPaw your mentor is DesertSun" DesertSun was the best hunter in the clan, and SandPaw wanted to follow in her pawsteps. "DustPaw, your mentor is SkyStorm" SkyStorm was the Clans deputy and he was pretty cool, so DustPaw thought of it as a privilege to be with the Clans deputy. "And OwlPaw,I am your mentor" OwlPaw's heart danced at the thought with being with his father, he thought it would be a whole lot more fun.
Sitting their vigil the new apprentices soon got bored, but they stuck with it.

On the other side of the lake the same old ritual was taking place. DawnStar stood up on the HighRock. She spoke with possibly the most excited tone ever "Do you StarryKit, VenomKit, SnakeKit and RainKit, take the pledge to become an apprentice, serve your Clan, through the most blistering days or the cloudy days?"
"Yes" was their answer.
"Then, StarryKit you are now StarryPaw, VenomKit you are now VenomPaw, SnakeKit you are now SnakePaw and RainKit you are now RainPaw" Continuing she said "Then, StarryPaw your mentor is SnowMist" StarryPaws little heart jumped with joy at the thought of being apprenticed as MedCat, and even though she was blind, she knew the smells of each herb and StarClan lit her path. "RainPaw, I am your mentor" RainPaw was shocked at her mother and Clan leader picked her, but she loved it. "VenomPaw, your mentor is your father" VenomPaw had thought it might be BloodFang but she had clear thoughts on that, turning her tail she blindly ran out of the camp and towards the lake to relax. BloodFang chased after her but he wasn't as fast as her, even though he was the fastest hunter in the Clan. Finally reaching the lake BloodFang sat beside VenomPaw and calmly said "You know, your pretty lucky to have your father be your mentor." But before he could continue he was cut off "No, no im not lucky! I wanted you to be my mentor, YOU not my lousy father, he's no where near as fast as you." Slowly she let her front paws sink into the cold lake water then allowing her back paws to fall in behind she gently paddled to the little island in the center of the lake, it was her little hide away when things got bad. Reappearing at the camp he shook his head, so DawnStar carried on, "SnakePaw, your mentor is SpiritSmoke" Grinning SnakePaw dashed towards his mentor and hugged almost all the air out her lungs, SpiritSmoke was a kit of a loner, the rest of her kin still live in the Clan, but before their mother left she nudged NightFeather, a queen, and told her she had to leave and the kits were staying then she fled the camp...
